Growing up, I experienced bodyshaming, like so many others. It wasn’t easy. I’ve heard the hurtful comments and dealt with the negative thoughts that came with them. But through all the tough moments, I’ve learned something incredibly important: we are all worthy of love and respect, no matter what we look like.
It’s easy to get caught up in society’s standards or the opinions of others, but I’ve discovered that real beauty comes from within. It’s about owning who you are and not letting anyone make you feel less than.

Turning Pain into Power: My Journey to Confidence
For a long time, I struggled with my own self-esteem. I didn’t always feel good enough, especially when I was being bullied or judged based on my looks. But over time, I realized that nobody has the right to define my worth but me.
A special moment in my life came when I was scouted to participate in a beauty pageant. I never expected to be approached for something like that, and at first, I was unsure about what it would mean for me because at first i was a very shy girl. What I didn’t expect was the incredible support and encouragement I received throughout the process. The people behind the scenes, the organizers, and the other participants all played a huge role in helping me grow in confidence. It isn't about the title—it is about the belief they have in me that helped me find my own strength.
Being part of the pageant process taught me an invaluable lesson: confidence isn’t about meeting a certain ideal or fitting a mold. It’s about embracing who you are, inside and out, and owning the space you take up. The love and support I received from those around me taught me that self-love is the key to true confidence.
Fighting Back Against Bodyshaming
One thing that has become clear to me is that bodyshaming is something we all have to fight against together. Whether it’s comments online, in person, or even self-criticism, we need to remind ourselves that no one should be judged for their appearance. We deserve to be respected no matter what we look like.
And that’s why I’m here. To remind you that you are more than enough just as you are. You don’t need to change for anyone. Embrace your unique beauty, and know that your value doesn’t come from your appearance—it comes from the person you are on the inside.
The Power of Support: Together We Rise
As I’ve learned from my journey, support and community can have an enormous impact on our confidence and self-worth. The kindness of the people around me, especially during my pageant experience, gave me the strength to believe in myself. We are often our own worst critics, but when we surround ourselves with people who lift us up and remind us of our worth, it becomes so much easier to silence the negativity.
That’s why I started Voices Against Bodyshaming—because I want to create a space where you can feel safe, supported, and heard. Here, you can share your story without fear of judgment. If you’re struggling or need advice, or even if you just want to ask questions, you can chat anonymously. No one should have to go through this alone. We’re here for each other, and together, we rise.
