💬 What is Bodyshaming?

Bodyshaming means judging, mocking, or criticizing someone based on their physical appearance. It can be about someone’s weight, height, skin, scars, or even how they dress. Often, it happens online in comments, DMs, or viral posts and it leaves a lasting impact.

No one should feel ashamed of their body. Yet, so many people do, just because of the hurtful words or opinions of others.

❗ Why Does It Matter?

Bodyshaming isn’t “just a joke.” It can seriously harm someone’s mental health and self-image. Many people who are bodyshamed struggle with low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, or eating disorders. It’s especially damaging to teens and young adults, who are still discovering who they are.

This is not just about words it’s about respect, dignity, and how we treat one another.

💖 Why I Started This Movement

I created Voices Against Bodyshaming because I’ve lived this. I was bullied and judged for how I looked things I couldn’t change. But I found strength in speaking out.

As a finalist for Miss Teen Netherlands 2025, and as Miss Teen of North-Holland, Miss Media & MissBest Body of the Netherlands 2024, I use my platform to raise awareness and empower others. I want everyone to know: you are enough as you are.

I’m also proud to be the Young Ambassador for Lions Netherlands, and I will speak about this topic at the Lions Europa Forum in Dublin this October. Because it’s time we all stand up, together, against bodyshaming.
